The S3A is the choice for demanding recording engineers who need to monitor deep bass in mid-sized control rooms. With its unique dual woofer system it doubles the area and power when it needs to respond to deeper frequencies, resulting in an exceptionally tight and punchy low-end without compromising midrange performance. And the signature ADAM A.R.T. folded ribbon tweeter gives the S3A a high end that's clear and clean with astonishing imaging.
ADAM Audio S3A at a Glance: Accelerated Ribbon Technology tweeter surpasses traditional high frequency devices Unique dual woofer system with special drivers enhances bass response Plenty of power and versatile positioning options A.R.T. tweeters explained
Accelerated Ribbon Technology tweeter surpasses traditional high frequency devices As a folded ribbon transducer, ADAM's A.R.T. tweeter technology is different than anything offered in the Pro Audio industry. Essentially, it squeezes air in a 4:1 ration rather than moving it like a piston in a 1:1 ratio as found in "traditional" tweeter technology. The results? As stated before, this delivers an extremely open and detailed HF response and outstanding imaging with a HUGE sweet spot. They sound simply stunning.
Unique dual woofer system with special drivers enhances bass response Two 7" HexaCone woofers and the S3A's cabinet design combine to deliver tight, linear bass down to 32Hz without breaking up or generating muddying artifacts. One woofer on the S3A acts as a full-range driver with the second woofer joining it only below 150Hz. This unusual approach effectively doubles the area and power of the woofer when it needs to respond to deeper frequencies, resulting in an exceptionally deep and punchy low end, which the S3A delivers without compromising midrange performance. The diaphragms of the woofers in the S3A are made of a special material called HexaCone. The core is a honeycomb structure made of a very light and stiff material called Nomex and is coated on both sides with Kevlar. These diaphragms are far stiffer and more rigid than other cone material, giving the S3A a remarkably tight and accurate low frequency response.
Plenty of power and versatile positioning options The S3A is an active system with three 150-watt amplifiers that deliver outstanding dynamic performance. It with its center tweeter placement the S3A can be used either horizontally or vertically, so that very flexible positioning within the studio is possible. Plus, a no-compromise 5.1 setup can be built with the Sub10 Subwoofer! Call today!
What Is Accelerated Ribbon Technology? The S3A utilizes the same A.R.T. (Accelerated Ribbon Technology) tweeters found in ADAM's high-end S6 monitors. These high frequency and midrange units take a completely new approach in kinematics to move air and improve the quality of music reproduction. Based on the original works of Dr. Oskar Heil, who invented his "Air Motion Transformer" back in 1972, new electroacoustic transducers have been developed that are based on improved layouts and new materials. The membrane consists of a lamella-like folded diaphragm whose single folds move according to the alternate current, thus squeezing air in and out. All other loudspeaker drive units, whether they are voice coil driven, electrostatics, piezos or magnetostatics, act like a piston, moving air in a 1:1 ratio. This is undesirable, as the specific weight of air is much lower than that of the driving mechanics. Speaking in terms of electrical engineering one could say there is a bad match between source and load. The A.R.T. principle achieves a 4:1 velocity transformation between driving diaphragm and driven air, meaning the air moves in and out four times faster than the folds itself are moving. This superior "motor" is responsible for the enormous clarity and transient reproduction that is to be heard from the S3A and all A.R.T. drive units.

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.
Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser.
The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
Get free downloads for Internet Explorer 7, including recommended updates as they become available. To download Internet Explorer 7 in the language of your choice, please visit the Internet Explorer 7 worldwide page.
