Focusrite, which has a great track record for both quality and innovation, has introduced the second interface in its Saffire line. The Saffire Pro 26i/o ultra-low latency FireWire 400 interface is housed in a 19-inch rackmount case and features detachable rack ears for desktop applications. The 52-channel (26 in and 26 out) Saffire Pro 26i/o has eight channels of onboard Focusrite Green Series mic preamps and eight analog outputs plus a total of 18 digital ins and outs (two S/PDIF and 16 ADAT at 48kHz). For today's high resolution audio, the 26i/o has 24-bit/192kHz A/D/A processing and comes bundled with SaffireControl Pro software and professional grade compression, reverb, EQ and amp modeling VST/AU plug-ins. It can be bus-powered or plugged into an AC outlet using the included power adapter. Multiple units can easily be linked together for large scale recording solutions.

This ultra-low latency FireWire 400 interface has a full 52 channels of ins and outs (to be precise, 26 ins and 26 outs). The Saffire Pro 26i/o includes eight channels of Focusrite preamplification plus 18 digital ins and outs (two S/PDIF and 16 ADAT at 48kHz). The Saffire Pro 26i/o also provides MIDI I/O alongside a host of additional processing features that include highpass filters on every channel and two super-channels with variable impedance and insert points.

24-bit/192kHz integrated A/D/A       
We may still be listening to 16-bit/44.1kHz audio, but nobody doubts that high-resolution media is coming soon, and the Saffire Pro 26i/o will be ready with onboard 24-bit/192kHz A/D/A converters.
